Story mostly follows the patterns laid out by predecessors, yet restores romance and classical patriarchal order. Enhanced by marginally better music, cinematography, and fighting (and throttling the menace of the obligatory gang rape), but hindered by a rather unengaging performance of female vengeance.

The story (from what I can decipher...)

Girl returns home to find older sister, who was soon to be a bride, has committed suicide after a gang rape. Seeking revenge, girl puts aside her own romance to become a disciple of a kung fu master, who is also a god of gambling. When he is smoked by a rival gambling kingpin, she first uses her gambling and kung fu skills to avenge that, before seeking out who attacked her sister and why. What she discovers leaves her torn between love and hate.
