With subtitles cut off, and under the spell of the film's powerful snooze-inducing force, I couldn't keep up. But, judging from the film's big blooper, it seems the production crew also slept through this one.

There's a story here...somewhere...

A chump is duped in poker. A girl chokes during mahjong, then gets into some other-wordly stuff. She goes home to Dad, a former card shark. The next day, she plays pool and wins money for her partner, but he gets robbed and beaten by a former follower of Dad, who then betrays Dad, and Dad ends up badly beaten. The downhearted chump comes across the injured Dad and shelters Dad and daughter, then learns that he was duped by the same guy that gave Dad the beatdown. To avenge for both, Dad trains the chump to be a card shark. Then there's a bit of preaching about what a terrible habit gambling is, but that doesn't stop anyone from showing off flashy moves.

But then the story gets a bit complicated and, with subtitles cut off and under the spell of the film's powerful snooze-inducing force, I couldn't keep up. But, judging from the film's big blooper, it seems the production crew also slept through this one.

"Next take, we'll move the slate board"..."Next take? What 'next take'??"

Visible slate board

Given how rapidly films were churned out in 80s Taiwan, goofs are not surprising.

Or maybe in Taiwan it's just the custom to post the director, cameraman, and scene/take at mahjong games?
