COVID-19 Related Entry Requirements

  1. A 3-level classification of countries' epidemiological situation is used to determine testing requirements.
  2. Asymptomatic travellers from Category A countries do not require RT-PCR test before commencement of travel.
  3. Travellers from Category B and C countries are required to provide proof of negative RT-PCR test conducted not more than 96 hours from the commencement of original travel, otherwise boarding pass will not be issued.
  4. Travellers from countries in Category C are required to take another RT-PCR Test upon arrival in Pakistan.
  5. Symptomatic travellers are required to have a COVID 19 RT-PCR test conducted and its result essentially submitted to the designated authorities within 48 hours of their arrival. Such suspected cases are not required to be retained/quarantined by the authorities at the time of disembarkation, and can proceed to their destination.
  6. There are 22 countries in Category A, and all remaining countries are in Category B. There are no countries in Category C. The 22 Category A countries are listed in the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority source document, linked above.
Data Collection
  • All travellers must download and install PASS TRACK app from the Google Play Store/Apple Store and enter their personal details as required. Travellers who do not have Android/Apple phones must enter their data on the web portal ( Travellers must upload the image of any required RT-PCR test result to the app or web portal.
Movement Restrictions
  1. In case of a positive RT-PCR result, the traveller and contacts need to self-quarantine.
  2. Suspected cases are not required to be retained/quarantined by the authorities at the time of disembarkation, and can proceed to their destination.

Pre-pandemic visa rules


Passport Validity
6 months
- Holders of confirmed onward tickets are permitted transit without visa in international transit area for up to 24 hours. Not applicable to nationals of Afghanistan, who require a visa.
- There are no transit without visa facilities available at Islamabad (ISB); passengers are required to clear Immigration and Customs.
Dual Nationality
Bureau of Consular Affairs, U.S. Department of State advises: 'Be aware that different visa requirements may apply if you hold U.S. and Pakistani citizenship'.

Additional Notes

  1. Visa permits double entry, and can be extended up to a maximum of six months including the initial visa period.
  2. Source states: "Foreign nationals can only apply for Pakistan visa from their country of origin OR from the place of legal permanent residence. Request for visas of a THIRD COUNTRY origin will be decided only by the Ambassador/High Commissioner/Head of Mission/Consulate."
  3. The following passports can enter Pakistan without visa for the period mentioned. After expiry of the period, extension of visa would be required: Maldives (3 months), Nepal (1 month), Tonga (unspecified period), Trinidad and Tobago (unspecified period), Samoa (1 month).
