General Policy
  • Starting 15 September 2020, international flights (suspended since March) partially resumed, and these travellers are exempted from the travel ban: (1) GCC citizens, and (2) travellers holding a valid visa, including exit and reentry, residency permit (iqama), and visit visas.

COVID-19 Related Entry Requirements

  • Visa required, GCC citizens exempt.
  1. Travellers are not allowed to board the flight unless they provide a coronavirus negative medical (PCR) test result from an authorized laboratory in their respective country carried out not later than 48 hours before their arrival.
  2. Travellers should undergo another PCR test 48 hours after entering the Kingdom.
Movement Restrictions
  • All travellers returning to the Kingdom must remain in home quarantine for three days.

Pre-pandemic visa rules


Passport Validity

Electronic Visa
- Transit without visa when transiting through Dammam (DMM), Jeddah (JED) or Riyadh (RUH) with a confirmed onward ticket for a flight to a third country within 12 hours. Must stay in the international transit area of the airport and have documents required for the next destination.
Dual Nationality
Saudi Arabia does not recognize dual nationality.

Additional Notes

  1. Previously Saudia Arabia had never permitted entry for tourism, only allowing entry for business, family visit, and Hajj. But on 27 September 2019, the government opened the country to tourism, introducing an online, one-year, multiple entry visa.
