- Holders of confirmed onward tickets through Auckland (AKL) and a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) are permitted transit without visa in international transit area for up to 24 hours.

Starting 1 October 2019, New Zealand requires travellers planning to enter or transit on a passport issued by a "Visa Waiver Country or Territory" to get a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) and (at the same time) pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) before travel. The NZeTA and IVL are valid for multiple visits for up to 2 years.
